Located 25 miles northeast of Mojave and about 85 miles northwest of Barstow in southern California. This state park protects paleontology sites and the remains of 1890s-era mining operations and has scenic desert cliffs and rock formations. There are 50 primitive campsites and miles of trails to explore the desert and each unique canyon. There is a visitor center that is open in the spring and fall. Guided nature hikes and campfire programs are offered during those times.
