Space Farms Zoo and Museum Located in Sussex in northern New Jersey about 40 miles northwest of Paterson, New Jersey. The Space Farms zoo has the largest collection of North American animals in their natural surroundings in the United States. It also has species from around the world. There are special animal access areas where you can feed the animals.Some of the animals you will see are buffalo, timber wolves, leopards, llamas, hyena and monkeys. In addition to the zoo, there is a museum with more than 50,000 artifacts including antique cars, farm implements, tools, dolls, tractors, and Native American items. It also has the second largest privately owned collection of antique firearms in the United States some from the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Located in northwestern New Jersey along the New Jersey/Pennsylvania border. No fees to enter the park. This recreation area has over 100 miles of hiking trails and roads that are closed to traffic with hikes ranging from easy to difficult. There are 3 beaches that are open seasonally and staffed with lifeguards. The beaches have a fee. If you prefer to paddle in the water, there are over 30 miles of water for enjoying in a canoe, a kayak, a raft or a tube. Other activities in the park are fishing, camping, picnicking, bird watching, rock climbing, horseback riding, and cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Buttermilk Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in New Jersey, is accessible by car while other waterfalls require a short walk.
